I meet some amazing people and cover some really interesting stories through my job at EEDC, but this has to be one of my favourites (and not just 'cause I got to sample some of the products).
One of the things that makes Edmonton so unique is that make-it-happen attitude. These three businesses are on the cusp of a new industry, and truly embody that entrepreneurial spirit.

1/8/2018 0 Comments The Way of GrayI first met lifestyle guru and social media maven Sophie Gray while covering the health beat at the St. Albert Gazette. I found her story and passion for making women feel great inspiring and wanted to dive deeper, so I pitched a profile to Avenue Edmonton. The piece was published earlier this month. In July, I started a job as a content specialist (which is basically a fancy word for writer) at Edmonton Economic Development Corporation. I write for two different websites, Edmonton Made and Make Something Edmonton.
If you've never heard of these programs before, the first supports local business and the second is a megaphone for initiatives that aim to make our city a better, more interesting, liveable place. One of the first projects I worked on was Gifted, Edmonton Made's first annual gift catalogue. I spoke with seven local makers and three local retailers about their passion, inspiration and design esthetic and churned these mini-profiles out in just over a week (phew!). And now, I get to share them with you!
The stories are a little hard to find online, so I've linked to them below.
