I was assigned a story about a Kickstarter campaign to support a local hospitality group's effort to open three separate concepts within the newly renovated Gibbard Block. Watching the campaign video, I was struck by a comment made by one of the owners: that they start all their projects with a neighbourhood rather than a concept. This idea intrigued me and inspired an infographic in the style of Canadian Business' "White Board" section. I wrote the text for the graphic, while my co-worker designed it.

Over the summer, a co-worker noticed more and more blacksmithing businesses popping up on social media. Though our team wondered if this was the result of shows like Forged in Fire, we resisted the urge to write another trend story and decided to write a how-to series that would guide potential entrepreneurs through the process of starting a hobby-based business.
